The
Bureau of Engineering is committed to the training and development
of all its employees. Training is beneficial to the employees,
the Bureau, and the City of Los Angeles. The employees benefit
directly from training by gaining skills needed to do their jobs,
thus increasing their own competence and confidence. Increased
competence and confidence creates motivated and skilled employees,
which increases the capacity of the Bureau to deliver quality
products and services. The citizens of the City of Los Angeles
are therefore better served and money is more wisely spent. We
also recognize that all systems are integrated and training systems
alone will be insufficient to deliver the performance necessary.
Training must work in concert with project management, systems
optimization, and performance management to achieve optimum results.
