Student Engineers

The Bureau of Engineering offers college students majoring in fields related to Civil Engineering an opportunity not only to gain valuable work experience but a chance to participate in the day-to-day operations of our design and construction management projects.

Student Engineers work part-time for no more than 1040 hours a year. Salary steps are $15.72 to $24.96 per hour.

We can accept resumes year-round. Applicants should be at least a sophomores majoring in Civil, Structural or Environmental Engineering and have completed 30 semester units or 45 quarter units.

Depending on project needs and the students' interests, they may get experience in field investigations, design principles, estimating, scheduling, document control, contract and change order management, construction monitoring and more.

The aim is to give students a taste of what it's like to translate theoretical knowledge into real world experience. We are very pleased that many of our student engineers have gone on to successful careers with the Bureau of Engineering.
