A Coastal Development Permit application has been submitted to the Bureau of Engineering with respect to LAMC Section 63.44 B 14(b), which restricts access to City beaches between the hours of midnight (12 am) and 5 am. The applicant for the Coastal Development Permit is the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. A public hearing was held on October 5, 2017, from 6-7:30 pm at the Westchester Recreation Center.
On November 9, 2017, the City Engineer issued a Notice of Decision to approve Coastal Development Permit 17-07 which allows the Department of Recreation and Parks to continue implementation of LAMC Section 63.44.B.14.(b). The decision of the City Engineer to approve Coastal Development Permit 17-07 was appealed to the Board of Public Works, which will hear the appeal at the Board’s meeting on January 19, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at City Hall, 200 North Spring Street, Room 350, Los Angeles, CA 90012. On January 19, 2018, the Board of Public Works denied the appeals and local Coast Development Permit 17-07 was issued on January 22, 2018.
