| 1st Street Bridge & Street Widening Project - Background |

The City of Los Angeles is planning improvements to the
1st Street Bridge and Roadway that are designed to ease
impacts that will result from extension of the MTA Goldline
(Eastside Light Rail Transit) from the downtown Union Station
to Beverly and Atlantic Boulevards in East Los Angeles.
A portion of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) project’s
alignment includes a surface alignment along 1st Street
from roughly Alameda Street on the west to Gless Street
on the east. The study area for this proposed project involves
1st Street from Vignes Street on the west, easterly across
the 1st Street Bridge to Mission Road, and easterly along
1st Street to Clarence Street
