Municipal Facilities
"Designing for a Sustainable Future"
The Architectural Division of the Bureau
of Engineering is the lead Division within the City for
the design of new, and the renovation and repair of existing,
City owned buildings for all Council controlled departments.
We are also responsible for the preparation of designs for
all landscaping within the public rights of way owned by
the City.
This
requires the ability to work on a wide variety of building
types, which vary in size and costs. We have a diverse and
professional in-house staff of Architects, Engineers, and
Landscape Architects and related support staff led by the
City Architect. They manage and produce the designs and
design documents necessary for the construction of the public
buildings.
The
City is currently developing and implementing policies to
maximize its limited resources. In cooperation with this
effort, we are currently incorporating the latest technologies
and policies into our operations. Therefore, we are especially
excited about the incorporation of sustainability concepts
into our designs. The implementation of this leading edge
concept into our design will encourage development of energy
efficient buildings and the use of recyclable materials
which will reduce waste.
This
is just one of the many ways we are working to make Los
Angeles a desirable place for people to live, work, and
play.
