PREFACE
Part H of the Manual covers the various aspects of structural design. It presents the
structural design criteria, standards, policies and procedures to the Designer of Public
Works structures. These are intended as guidelines. Each structural project should be
considered unique. Although the criteria listed herein should be followed insofar as
possible, they cannot supplant the need for the application of sound engineering judgment
by the Engineer.GENERAL PROVISIONS

H 300 DESIGN LOADS AND DISTRIBUTION OF LOADS
General requirements; dead load; live load; impact and vibration;
overload; seismic forces; earth pressures; and other loads and forces.
H 400 MATERIALS AND DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS
Concrete; masonry; timber; steel; and aluminum.
H 500 FOUNDATIONS AND RETAINING STRUCTURES
Piles; footings; abutments; and retaining walls.

H 700 CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING
General; supplemental guidelines for construction controls;
