LA Beach Access

A Coastal Development Permit application has been submitted to the Bureau of Engineering with respect to LAMC Section 63.44 B 14(b), which restricts access to City beaches between the hours of midnight (12 am) and 5 am.  The applicant for the Coastal Development Permit is the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks.  A public hearing was held on October 5, 2017, from 6-7:30 pm at the Westchester Recreation Center.

On November 9, 2017, the City Engineer issued a Notice of Decision to approve Coastal Development Permit 17-07 which allows the Department of Recreation and Parks to continue implementation of LAMC Section 63.44.B.14.(b).  The Notice of Decision, as well at the staff report supporting the decision, may be viewed by using the links below.

The decision of the City Engineer to approve Coastal Development Permit 17-07 was appealed to the Board of Public Works, which will hear the appeal at the Board’s meeting on January 19, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at City Hall, 200 North Spring Street, Room 350, Los Angeles, CA 90012.  The Notice of Board of Public Works Hearing may be viewed by using the link below.  We recommend that you confirm that item will be heard by checking the agenda on the following webpage the day before the scheduled hearing: https://dpw.lacity.org/meeting-calendar.

On January 19, 2018, the Board of Public Works denied the appeals and local Coast Development Permit 17-07 was issued on January 22, 2018.
