City of Los Angeles Breaks Ground on New Women's Bridge Housing

On November 8, 2018, City Engineer Gary Lee Moore joined Councilmember David Ryu of CD4 at the groundbreaking for new homeless bridge housing on N. Gardner Street, at the old Will and Ariel Durant Library in Hollywood. Engineering did the design for the renovation of the building. It will be operated by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority and is expected to be completed by late summer of 2019. The facility will include 30 beds for women experiencing homelessness, who will work with case managers to transition into long-term housing. Many neighbors and community members joined us at the event to show support for their new neighbors. Together, they all signed a banner that will be given to the 30 women when they arrive, which reads "WELCOME HOME!"
