HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME RENOVATION PROJECT

PROJECT LOCATION: The proposed Project site involves the entire extent of the Walk of Fame, which includes Hollywood Boulevard from Gower Street to La Brea Avenue in the east-west direction (1.3 miles) and Vine Street from Yucca Street to Sunset Boulevard in the north-south direction (0.4 miles). The Project site is located in the Hollywood community of the City of Los Angeles and is completely bounded by commercial uses. Regional access to the Project site is provided via U.S. Route 101, located approximately 0.4 miles east of the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Gower Street.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The proposed Project includes renovations to the Walk of Fame. Currently, seventy percent of the existing right-of-way (ROW) of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street is dedicated to vehicles and thirty percent for pedestrian and other uses. The proposed Project would seek to more than double the amount of available space for pedestrians, alternative mobility, sidewalk dining, and community gathering. The proposed Project would include sidewalk and Walk of Fame restoration, new flexible event plazas, streetscape improvements, visitor amenities, additional landscaping, lighting, signage, and improved parking and mobility options.

The proposed Project would:

  • Provide more space for pedestrians and amenities through an expanded sidewalk and the creation of flexible event plazas.
  • Create a cohesive streetscape design through a contemporary interpretation of Art Deco design.
  • Enhance landscaping with trees, shade, tree wells, and planting areas.
  • Celebrate Hollywood history and identity through repair and restoration of the Walk of Fame.
  • Simplify access and parking by creating new dedicated passenger pick-up and drop-off areas which may be used for ride hailing pick-up and drop off or valet parking, close to major destinations, and improving access to off-street parking.
  • Improve alternative mobility options via protected bike lanes and sidewalk, crosswalk, and intersection improvements to allow improved access for residents and visitors.
  • Augment the Walk of Fame experience with new lighting and technology.
