Community Engagement

Reimagining the SLRC as a space where natural and urban life meet is a process that requires ongoing community input and consideration. The Master Plan team has created numerous engagement opportunities to collect and incorporate community ideas and feedback.

The project team held a series of 5 Community Workshops. These community events allowed the team to present plan progress and solicit feedback at critical moments throughout the Master Plan Development.

Throughout this process we have had unprecedented attendance and participation.  The graphic below summarizes the overall process.

Thank you to everyone who has participated.

*VIRTUAL* COMMUNITY WORKSHOP 05
Video Launch on August 21, 2020

Since we are unable to hold a large event due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we developed two videos to celebrate and present the Master Plan virtually. The videos describe the Master Plan process, showcase many of the key participants, and give an overview of the design created in partnership with the community of Silver Lake. See the two links below:

In addition to these videos, the following summaries were provided to give participations additional information regarding the Master Plan Design and Park Sustainability Features.

By the close of the Questionnaire, over 1,500 people had viewed the videos and we received 922 questionnaire responses in total!  See below for a summary and questionnaire results.

August 24, 2019

8:00 - 11:00 a.m. - Silver Lake Meadow 2300 Silver Lake Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90039

On August 24th, we opened the reservoirs to you to learn more about your top priorities for this exciting project! Over approximately 600 participants got the opportunity to walk the entire rim of the reservoirs and stop at different stations to learn more about the project and define their priorities.  Community Workshop 02 focused on visioning – imagining what the reservoir complex could be and what people would want to do and see in the future – to assist the design team in developing conceptual design alternatives for the Master Plan. Each participant was asked to fill out a questionnaire on site.

Station boards are available below.  These relate to activities and amenities listed in the questionnaire.
